Amma creates history, returns to the power for second time
Chennai: Tamil Nadu may create a history of sorts. For the first time since 1989, the state is going to repeat a government.
Heading in more than 123 constituencies of a total of 234,the chief minister J Jayalalitha seems to be all-set to retain the power in the Southern state.
The state assembly has a total of 234 seats but election on one of the seats will be held later. Result of only 233 seats will be declaredon Thursday.
The Congress had reached an understanding in the state with the Dravid Munnetra Kazgam. This was the second state after West Bengal where the Congress had made an alliance. To the party’s misfortune in both the state the alliance has failed to click.
Her victory will be a morale booster for Bihar chief Minister Nitish Kumar, for, like him. Amma had promised that she would introduce prohibition in the state if voted to power.
The final picture is likely emerge in a few hours.
