New Delhi: The Supreme Court which is hearing defamation case against Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi may provide relief to him in view of a fresh affidavit filed in this connection.

In the affidavit he has claimed that he had not held the RSS responsible for the murder of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. He had only blamed some leaders associated with the organisation . As such the outfit should not feel offended.

The observation of the Court that accusing an individual or individuals is different from accusing an organisation. This observation has given hope of relief to the party and him.

The Court which re- heard the case on Wednesday has fixed September 1 for the next hearing in the light of this development.

Backgrounder:

· Bhiwandi unit secretary Rajesh Kunte filed a case against Gandhi on March 6, 2014.

· He alleged that Rahul had blamed the RSS for Mahatama’s muder at an election rally.

· This way he has defamed the RSS, the petitioner claimed.
