SC orders Mulayam, Mayawati to vacate their official bungalows

New Delhi: In a major decision, the Supreme Court on Monday ordered former chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh to vacate their official bungalows.

The decision has come on the petition filed by Lucknow based non-governmental organization (NGO), Lok Prahri. The decision of the Apex court is going to affect Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati and many others.

The court has ordered them to vacate their houses in two months.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who was UP chief minister in 2000, has also retained his bungalow and he has been also ordered to vacate the official resident.

Others affected by this ruling are Kalyan Singh, Ram Naresh Yadav and ND Tiwari.
