Lucknow: Sulkhan Singh has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh Police. He will replace former DGP Javeed Ahmed at the post.

A total of 12 IPS officers have been transferred in Uttar Pradesh. Javeed Ahmed has been appointed as the DG PAC, while Aditya Mishra has been named ADG (law and order).

Javeed Ahmed, 56, had become UP DGP after the retirement of Jagmohan Yadav. Ahmed had four more years of his service left.

It could be mentioned here that Sulkhan Singh is the 1980 batch IPS officer.

Since the enthronement of Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Minister of the state, there were speculations regarding the replacement of UP DGP.
