New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Narela constituency Sharad Chauhan was on Sunday arrested by a Special Investigating Team (SIT) which was probing the suicide case of a party activist.

It may be recalled that the AAP volunteer, who had accused a colleague of sexually harassing her, committed suicide at her house in Narela region of outer Delhi on July 19 last.

“We have apprehended Chauhan and the details about his role in the suicide case will be shared later,” said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).

Other highlights:

  • Yadav said the detained Delhi sub-inspector (S-I) was investigating the sexual harassment case filed by the AAP activist against Chauhan’s alleged supporter Ramesh Bharadwaj.
  • Two supporters of Bharadwaj Amit and Rajnikant were also apprehended by the Delhi police in connection with the suicide case.
