Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's style of functioning has caused at least one side-effect. Most of Indian Administrative Service officers are no more interested in transfer to the Centre. Nor are they any more desirous of going to Delhi on deputation.

According to official sources, one of the reasons is 360 degree profiling which has come in vogue at the Centre and on which light was thrown recently. Another could be lateral transfer which was only done in states and not at the Centre.

The officers' change in wish-list is being described in some circles as " Modi's side-effect". The fact that as many as seven Uttar Pradesh cadre officers were not considered for secretary-level empanelment could be also a reason.

If a proof is needed, here it is. The department of personnel and training (DOPT) had invited application to fill more than 12 joint secretary's posts by officers on deputation. But no application has been received for most of these posts.

Another indicator: during election in the state many such officers wish to come on deputation. Election is round the corner in the state but no such request has been received so far. Recent change of departments of IAS officers at the Centre could be also a reason.
