Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh cut the security cover of several opposition leaders including the former state chief ministers Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav.

UP government also downgraded security cover of few Samajwadi Party leaders including Shivpal Yadav, Azam Khan, Dimple Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav.

Meanwhile, security cover has been upgraded for the senior BJP leader Vinay Katiyar, who now will get Z category protection.

An order regarding the same was passed after a security committee meeting was held late on Saturday, which was attended by principal secretary (home), ADG Intelligence and ADG (security) along with the newly-appointed DGP Sulkhan Singh.

So far, state government has downgraded security cover of 46 VIPs, and took away completely of 105 others.

Meanwhile, those completely lost their security include BSP national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Satish Chandra Mishra.
