School Bus turned turtle in Etah, 10 students injured

Etah: At least 18 children suffered injuries when a City Convent School bus turned turtled near Awagar area of Uderi village in Etah. The bus was carrying more than 36 students and the accident occurred after it overturned while trying to avoid collision with electricity wires on Tuesday.

The incident also presents a careless face of the education authorities of the district as despite such a major accident taking place, no officials from education department have reached the spot. This has let to anger in people. The Sub-Divisional magistrate(SDM), CO and Regional Transport officers (RTO), however, have reached the site and are investigating the matter.

  • The bus belongs to City Convent School and was numbered UP 83 C 6549.
  • The driver was driving carelessly, alleged eyewitnesses.
  • The injured were taken to nearby hospital for the first aid.

It may be mentioned that a similar incident took place in Etha when at least 13 including 12 school kids were killed and more than 40 got severely injured when a bus carrying them collided with a truck on Januray 19.

The accident took place near Asadpur area under Aliganj police station of the district. The bus was carrying nearly 50 students of JS Vidya School.
