Saudi Arabia to send 10,000 Indians back home: Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi: Saudi Arabia will facilitate return of 10,000 thousand Indian nationals, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj told Rajya Sabha on Thursday. She said that these Indians who are facing acute hardships after having rendered jobless by their respective companies will be be back soon.

Addressing Rajya Sabha, Swaraj said-

  • The Saudi King has instructed his officials to solve the problem within two days.
  • General (Retd) VK Singh is currently in Saudi Arabia.
  • He met the Labour Minister there on Wednesday; he said instructions were given to provide the Indian workers with exit visa.
  • They will send them back at their own expense.

Susham informed that they are assuring to make proper preparations regarding medical care, food, and sanitation in the camps of Indians.

Thanking Gulf government, Swaraj said that all this is happening because of the relations made during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Saudi Arabia.

General VK Singh and Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar are in the Saudi Arabia to get hold over the situation.

10,000 Indians are facing financial crisis after several factories are being closed down leaving them unpaid for long time.
