Surprise of surprises, only BJP goes for the Muslim community

Lucknow: The Bhartiya Janata Party is slowly but steadily going for a image- makeover. The party’s emphasis on development and not making Ram temple an election issue are some of the pointers . And as if it was not enough, now it has added one more to the list. The latest development is nomination of a Muslim for the Rajya Sabha elections unlike other parties which were appeasing the community in one way or the other.

It has beaten all others ,who claimed to be championing Muslim causes ,hollow. Take for instance the Congress. It released a list of eight Rajya Sabha candidates on Saturday from different part of the country but none of them belongs to the community.

Uttar Pradesh which will go to the polls next year and is crucial for the party has not been spared either. Kapil Sibal who had fought the last parliament election from Delhi has been chosen to represent the party in the upper house from the state this time.

The Samajwadi party which claims to be another Muslim supporter has not done any better. Out of the seven candidates announced by the party for the Rajya Sabha elections from U P none again is a Muslim. The party did so inspite of reported stress by the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid .

The Bahujan Samaj Party which would like to win away SP Muslim-supporters and defeat its arch-rival SP has not done anything different. It has fielded two candidates from the state all of whom are Hindus. As many as 11 seats filled by the state will fall vacant in July for which elections will be held next month. Out of them the SP can win seven , the BSP two and the BJP and the Congress one each.

The BJP Muslim candidate is Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi , Minister of States for Parliamentary Affairs, who will represent Jharkhand state.
