Rio de Janeiro: On a way to script history, Dipa Karmakar on Sunday becomes the first Indian gymnast to reach the individual vault finals in the Rio Olympics 2016 in Rio de Janeiro of Brazil.

Finishing eighth in the qualifying round, the Tripura girl has shown oodles of prowess throughout the game at the Rio Olympic Arena.

Dipa, who ended sixth after the third of five sub-divisions, went down to eighth after Canadian Shallon Olsen’s spectacular attempt rearranged the standings.

Dipa’s scorecard:

  • Uneven bars: 7.166 (execution), 4.5 (difficulty)
  • Balance beam: 7.566 (execution), 5.3 (difficulty)
  • Floor exercises: 7,133 (execution), 5.2 (difficulty)

Dipa Karmakar will be seen playing finals on August 14.
