Rajnath Singh appeals peace to Jammu and Kashmir people

New Delhi: With Kashmir on boil after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday requested Jammu and Kashmir people to maintain amity and remain calm.

Rajnath said discussions are on to bring normalcy in Kashmir Valley.

At least 11 people have lost their lives and about 126 others including 96 security forces personnel were injured in the clashes between the violent mob and security forces.

Home Minister said-

  • I appeal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to remain calm and maintain peace.
  • Deeply anguished at the loss of precious lives in the incidents of violence in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • I also pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.

On Friday night, militants along with Burhan Wani were hiding inside a house located in the area. They launched gunfire at security forces in which three militants including Wani were killed.
