Lucknow: Hitting back at the Samajwadi Party (SP) after a failed merger attempt, the Quami Ekta Dal on Tuesday accused the ruling Samajwadi Party of swindling public money and pumping it in Saifiai, the family borough of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Failing to hide his anguish over the snub from the SP, QED general secretary Afzal Ansari said the Samajwadi Party (SP) was trying to hide its failure by boasting about their works through advertisements, but in reality nothing had been done on ground level.

‘’The ruling party has backstabbed us as they first called for the merger and then they stepped back. It was a deliberate attempt to malign the image of Mukhtar Ansari,’’ he said adding ‘’ both the SP abd Bahujan Samaj Party used the name of Mukhtar in the past and now it is our turn to show them our strength in the eastern Uttar Pradesh.’’

He said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre and SP government in Uttar Pradesh had colluded to further their political interests by spreading communal hatred in the state.
