Dehradun: The floor test to decide the fate of Harish Rawat as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand seems to have gone in favour of him, according BJP member Bishan Singh Chufal.

He told media persons after coming out of the House that only 28 members were standing with the BJP in the Uttarakhand assembly during the voting. It was three short of the majority.

He alleged that Rawat had indulged in horse trading and had paid a large sum to some of the members to win their support.

The body language of some other U'Khand assembly members and statements by some of them are only indicative of this, although, officially, the result will be only announced by the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

The voting was done by raising of hands.

Other indicators of Rawat's victory:

  • Some Congress members have claimed that they had won the test.
  • The BJP says "it is ready to sit in the opposition."
  • The Congress had also claimed that 33 members had supported Rawat.
  • BSP leader Mayawati had announced this morning that two of her members will vote in favour of Rawat.
