Allahabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah launched his party's first road show during the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections here on Tuesday, with garlanding the sculpture of martyred freedom fighter Chandra Shekhar Azad.

The six kilometer long road show of the BJP chief witnessed huge mass gathering.

Earlier in the day, Amit Shah addressed an election meeting in Munderwa region of Basti district.

"BJP is the only party, which can bring Uttar Pradesh on development track. Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party have looted the state for years. Give us a chance to serve you, and I promise, you will never regret," said Shah.

Lambasting Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati, he said, "SP and BSP have divided people on the lines of casteism for electoral benefits. They protect the goons of the state. But I want to assure you that BJP will send all of them behind bars after coming to power in the state."

It may be mentioned that Allahabad is scheduled to go for polls in fourth phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on February 23.

The Sangam city would also witness a road show of alliance partners Akhilesh Yadav and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday.
