Hathras: In the first case of poll violence in Uttar Pradesh, one Bahujan Samaj Party supporter died of bullet injury and five others were injured after an armed scuffle between supporters of Samajwadi Party and BSP in Manikpur village under Sahpau police station about 35 kms from the district headquarters.

The deceased was identified as Pushpendra, the supporter of former Uttar Pradesh minister Ramveer Upadhyaya. According to eye witnesses, the bullet was aimed at Chirag, the son of the former minister who is BSP candidate from Sadabad assembly constituency while the sitting legislator Devendra Agarwal is SP nominee.

According to police, the injured had been admitted to the hospital where condition of two was stated to be serious.

Sadabad seat of Hathras will go to polls in the first of seven phases of UP Assembly polls on February 11. The results will be declared on March 11.
