PCS cadre comes together against the slap row at Green Park

Lucknow: The resentment brews within the ranks of Provincial Civil Service (PCS) cadre in Uttar Pradesh following an incident of slapping of a sub-district magistrate (SDM) by policemen at Green Park stadium of Kanpur during the IPL match last week.

The PCS officers association has also intervened into the matter and decided to meet UP chief secretary Alok Ranjan and the Principal Secretary, Home, Debashish Panda over the issue demanding action against the policemen.

The incident:

SDM Ghatampur, Sukhbir was roughed up and slapped by the police constables at gate number six of the Green Park stadium.

Sukhbir has it that the son of police constable had entered the stadium without ticket.

Officers are on a pen down strike

Irked over the incident, PCS officers in Kanpur are on a pen down strike. Association’s president Shivakant Dwivedi here said that they will continue their protest unless stern action is taken against the accused.

FIR being registered:

Dwivedi adds that, case was being registered against the accused police constables after identifying them.

What DM says?

Kanpur DM Kaushalraj Sharma says that a meeting was held over this issue at his camp office and it came to light that accused policemen have come from Agra.
