Over 14 killed, 24 injured as the mini truck turned turtle in Etah

Etah: In an unfortunate incident, at least 14 people were killed and more than 24 were critically injured as the mini truck turned turtle and fell into the roadside canal in the Etah district.

The incident took place in the wee hours on Friday when the driver, who was feeling drowsy, lost the control over the steering which led the vehicle over turned. The injured were immediately taken to the Jalesar Primary Health Centre in Agra.

According to the officials, the victims hired the mini truck and were returning from the wedding functions from Sakrauli village to agra.

The senior Superintendent of Police Satyarth Anirudh Pankaj confirmed the death toll of 14 and the District Magistrate Amit Kishore has also ordered an enquiry regarding the incident.

It may be mentioned that a similar incident took place in Etha when at least 13 including 12 school kids were killed and more than 40 got severely injured when a bus carrying them collided with a truck on January 19.

The accident took place near Azadpur area under Aliganj police station of the district. The bus was carrying nearly 50 students of JS Vidya School.
