Patna: Just another day of stepping down, Nitish Kumar, again, took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar on Thursday.

The oath of office to Nitish Kumar was administered by the state Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi at the Raj Bhavan, here, at 1000 hours.

It is to be mentioned that within 24 hours of putting down his papers as the Bihar CM and quitting the Grand Alliance, Kumar got support of its former ally Bharatiya Janata Party as partner of his Janata Dal-United.

This is his second innings in the last two years, after he snapped ties late on Wednesday with the Grand Alliance partners Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress, over corruption charges against Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav.

Bharatiya Janata Party Bihar chief Sushil Kumar Modi was sworn in as the the Deputy Chief Minister of the state.

In what could be said as a smart move, Bharatiya Janata Party pitched in support for Nitish Kumar, accepting him as NDA leader.

It could be recalled that following tension in Grand Alliance, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday submitted his resignation to the Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi, saying, it was not possible to continue in Grand Alliance after charges against Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav. Nitish’s big move came after JD(U)’s legislative meet on Wednesday.

“I have tendered my resignation to the Governor for the sake of Bihar people. Governor has accepted my resignation,” said Nitish Kumar as Grand Alliance collapsed.
