The Country pays tribute to the Kargil heroes

New Delhi: People from different fields, from politicians down to sports persons, paid tribute to the Kargil war heroes, on Tuesday, July 26 , to celebrate the victory in war against Pakistan in 1999.

Kargil war celebration is a week- long celebration, which includes many events that involve the local residents, especially the youths and children of Drass and Kargil regions.

The Kargil war was fought between May to July in 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir between India and Pakistani armies. The 'Operation Vijay' was launched to clear the Kargil sector of infiltration by Pakistani Soldiers and Kashmiri militants on the Indian side of the Line of Control by Indian military.
