Amitabh Thakur Case: Police likely to take voice samples of Mulayam Singh

Lucknow: Police may soon take the voice samples of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and IPS officer Amitabh Thakur in the threat complaint filed by the latter.

In a report presented to the CJM Lucknow, the investigating officer, CO Krishnanagar, Dinesh Kumar Singh said that police, if found necessary, would take the voice samples of the Samajwadi Party patriarch and Amitabh Thakur.

Amitabh had registered a complaint about alleged threat to him on phone on 10 July 2015. Hazratganj police had closed this investigation in October 2015 through a hurried investigation.

On 20 August 2016, CJM Lucknow had directed the investigating officer to take the voice samples of Mulayam Singh and Amitabh and sent it to Forensic Science Lab for scientific investigation.

The police had not taken any action in the case so far. After change of regime, CO Dinesh Kumar Singh presented his report dated 30 March 2017 where citing election duties and other engagements, he said he shall soon be studying the Compact disk and take voice samples of the two parties.

Taking cognizance of this report, the CJM has fixed 24 April as next date of hearing.
