Mulayam stuns, makes Shivpal in-charge of 2017 UP Assly polls

Lucknow: In a swift political development, Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday entrusted senior Minister and party general secretary Shiv Pal Singh Yadav with the charge of 2017 assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.

The decision has come as a surprise to many because Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is also the state party chief and the step looks like undermining his role in the coming elections.

It is not the first time that Mulayam surprised the people and his party men alike as in 2012 also, no body had expected he would nominate Akhilesh as the Chief Minister.

It is a common knowledge that Akhilesh had played a major role in getting majority for his party in 2012 following his highly successful rath yatras across the state. It was his fresh youth image which had won many young followers but Mulayam’s latest move has left more questions than the answers.
