Militants open fire in Kokrajhar in Assam, killing at least 14
Dispur: As many as 14 persons were killed when militants fired indiscriminately in Kokrajhar town in Assam on Friday.
Report pouring in said one of the militants was killed by the security forces. one of militants threw a grenade.
According to official sources, militants fled after opening fire. The police has cordoned off the area.
The encounter was underway.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over telephone and apprised of the situation. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also took stock of the situation.
The ministry of home affairs was closely watching the situation, Rajnath Singh tweeted.
