Masked men break Kashiram’s statue, Dalits go on the warpath

Gurgaon: Driving Dalit community up the wall, a group of outlaws on Monday vandalized a statue of Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP’s) founder Kashiram, which was installed at Ambedkar Bhawan in Sector – IV of Gurgaon in Haryana.

The people of the community said they would heavily protest against the misdeed and they also threatened to carry out violence within the city.

Highlights:

  • The act has been caught on camera where masked men are breaking the statue with hammer.
  • The statue was installed three months ago.
  • Statue of Ambedkar, which was installed right next to the damaged statue, remained untouched by the miscreants.
  • An investigation was under way while the Gurgaon police was trying to identify the masked men shown in the CCTV footage.
