Lucknow: On the first day of operation, the Lucknow Metro faced a technical glitch and had to take a halt on its route between Transport Nagar and Alambagh on Wednesday.

The metro had to stop from 0640 hours to 0725 hours between the stations while the passengers were evacuated by the officials. Many passengers, who had taken the inaugural run of the train, were stuck between Mawaiyya and Durgapuri stations. The snag has been attributed to a glitch in the traction pump.

While several passengers said they enjoyed the metro ride, there were many who aired their disappointment as they missed their onward trains and some were stranded in the coach with the gates not opening.

Many school going children were also spotted stranded inside a metro train.

Managing Director of Metro Kumar Keshav said that some technical faults could be faced in the first month of its operation. "Every passenger is safe and has been evacuated. We may have to face some technical problems in the first month of the operation of metro. The issues will be solved soon," said Keshav.
