Labourer put to torture by factory owner in Shahjahanpur

Shahjahanpur: A poor labourer was held captive and subjected to the third degree torture on suspicion of a theft by a Mentha factory owner in Collectorganj village under Jalalabad police station in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Sukhram, the labourer, was chained and not been given food and water since last five days and has been held captive in the factory premises, alleged his family members.

  • The youth has been chained over the allegations of stealing battery by the Mentha plant owner.
  • He works at the Shivala Mentha plant owned by Rameshwar Dayal.

Police says:

  • No FIR has been lodged so far.
  • Inspector Jitendra Babu remarked that this incident is a private affair and the police would initiate action only if family members lodged a complaint.
