Jawaharbagh violence: UP CM holds police responsible

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government said that there was a lapse on the part of the police which resulted in violence in Jawaharbagh of Mathura, killing several persons including policemen.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that police failed in gleaning the information of arms with the protesters.

The incident is being probed, he added.

Opposition reacts:

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) deplored the violence and has demanded resignation from the government.

BSP supremo has demanded a judicial probe into the incident..

BJP cries ‘Jungleraj’:

Several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders including Uttar Pradesh Chief Keshav Prasad Maurya have termed the incident as ‘most infortunane’,

Jungleraj is prevailing in the state, they added.

Shivapal says:

“UP BJP Chief Keshav Prasad Maurya should not do politics on the martyrdom of our policemen. Thirteen cases have been registered against him and he should work on improving his image,” said Shivpal in a press conference in Lucknow on Friday.
