Iraqi woman molested by staff member at a hospital in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: An Iraqi woman was allegedly molested by a staff member of the Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI), where she went for treatment, in Gurgaon of Haryana.

The woman, in her complaint to the police, alleged that she was sexually harassed by an unknown man within the hospital premises while she was admitted there.

"The unfortunate incident took place on May 5 last. We received a letter from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to register a case and conduct probe into the matter,” a senior Gurgaon police official said on Monday.

Other highlights:

• An FIR in this connection was registered at the Sushant Lok police station of the city following MEA’s demand.
• “The incident involved a contractual worker who was employed by an external agency,” said FMRI’s official spokesperson.
