IPL 10, SRH vs KKR: Gambhir scripts win for Kolkata in a rain spoiler

Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) started the things well with the bowl but it wasn't good enough to restrict Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) under the chaseable total of 48 runs in six overs. As a result, Kolkata beat Hyderabad by seven wickets at the M Chinnaswamy stadium here on Wednesday to enter the qualifier 2 of the Indian Premiere League (IPL) season 10.

Glorious Gautam Gambhir is solely to be credited who sensibly marched towards victory after KKR was three down at just 12 runs.

Skipper Gambhir scored 32 runs off just 19 balls with two 4s and two 6s along with debutant Ishank Jaggi (5 runs off 8 balls) who built an important partnership with the former.

At the start, Chris Lynn was on the money right away, smacking Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a six in the first ball he faced.

But the second ball saw the destructive Australian get out after replays showed Lynn had edged to wicket-keeper Naman OJha off a Bhuveshwar near-yorker.

Yusuf Pathan, promoted up the order to score at a brisk pace, lasted just one delivery before he was run out. Robin Uthappa did not last long too, holing out to Shikhar Dhawan at deep mid wicket off Chris Jordan's bowling.

KKR now will play Mumbai Indians on Friday. The team winning will play Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in the final.

Earlier, heavy downpour coupled with strong winds delayed start of the second innings after Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a below par 128/7 in 20 overs.

The target for Kolkata after long rain delay in Bangalore was reduced to 48 runs off six overs.
