I’m much concerned about false terror charges on Muslims: Gowda
Aligarh: Touching on an issue that was agonising the Muslim community of India for long, Union minister for Law and Justice D V Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday said he was much concerned about false terror charges slapped on Muslim men.
“There had been lot many cases across the country where Muslims were arrested on terror charges and eventually acquitted owing to lack of evidence. It signified that they were never guilty and was a matter of concern. Therefore, we are planning to bring in changes,” said Gowda while speaking at the Vikas Parv celebration event in Aligarh of Uttar Pradesh.
What else Gowda said:
- The law commission is working on a report in this matter to bring about reforms in criminal procedure, bail, prosecution lapses, etc.
- A Supreme Court judge is the chairperson of panel preparing the report.
- Other legal experts are also involved in the report’s preparation.
