How far can the UP police stretch patience of a 'yogi'

Lucknow: Yogi is a 'yogi' too, full of patience with penchant for details before jumping to any conclusion. This, of course, is the only possible reason why the top crust of Uttar Pradesh police is being given such a long rope despite a series of unpleasant incidents in the state since BJP government took over- the attacks on Nigerian nationals is one such shameful episode.

Two attacks in two days on foreign nationals in Greater Noida in NCR which invited the concern of the Centre as well but the political 'amnesty' to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Noida Dharmendra Yadav and other senior officers of the range and zone is more than surprising than anything else.

It was for everyone to see that how the police administration embarrassed the new government of UP by sheer mishandling of anti-romeo drive but the 'yogi' in Yogi Adityanath provided the 'Khaki', the kind of comfort level, nobody, who has seen the functioning of the department in the last five years, will approve it.

In many instances, the police had to wait for a change of government to bring some action in their daily official chore, the anti-encroachment drive in Meerut and the cleanliness overdrive are few of them.

Why only the UP Cm Yogi, almost every BJP leader including prime Minister Narendra Modi remained critical of UP's law and order and were of the view that the entire system needed an overhaul. PM Modi had even gone to the extent describing 'Thanas' of UP as offices of Samajwadi Party. The scenario is more or less same as most of the 'thanas' are still headed by same old ones.

In case of Noida, the zero tolerance sould be the only remedy as the SSP of Noida had been very very close to former CM Akhilesh Yadav and this was even mentioned in the plea to Election Commission by the BJP leaders during the election.

It remains to be seen how long the patience of Yogi is put to test , specially by the police. It may be mentioned here that during a high-level meeting with the police officials on Tuesday, Yogi had expressed his displeasure over teh Greater Noida incident along with an explosion in Sant Kabirnagar.
