Heavy downpour in NCR, police urges residents to keep calm

New Delhi:  The Delhi traffic police issued advisories asking people to keep calm and navigate roads with discipline, as heavy rains again threaten the traffic disruption in the National Capital Region (NCR), reminding of unprecedented jam on July 29 last.

Delhi and its adjacent areas went dark on Wednesday morning leaving the city with heavy downpour and flooded roads.

The police tweeted and asked the public to remain patient while on roads as the adverse weather has affected the visibility.

“Heavy rains in Gurgaon, please be advised. Be patient and maintain lane discipline, we are on the job to facilitate your movement,” the Gurgaon police tweeted.

There are, however, reports of major chaos on the roads of the city.

Anger in office goers:

  • The angry office goers have took to twitter to express their frustration about being struck in the massive traffic jam.
  • “Traffic jams have become synonymous with rains in Delhi and adjacent areas,” tweeted a local.
  • “Rain or no rain… Delhi to Gurgaon roads are always jammed,” Priyanka Thakkar, a local resident, tweeted.

Earlier on July 29 last, the National Highway-8 had went flooded with heavy rains leaving thousands of commuters stranded for hours.
