UP govt asks banks not to issue notices to loan waiver beneficiary farmers

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government on Friday directed all the banks in the state to not issue any notice to small and marginal farmers, the beneficiaries of loan waiver scheme, till the passage of the budget for 2017-2018 fiscal.

The decision was taken during the high-level meeting helmed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Government sources said that the decision has been taken to avert a Mandsaur-like protest in Uttar Pradesh.

Government will set up committees led by respective DMs for effective implementation of the scheme at the district level.
