POSCO judge suspended for granting bail to rape-accused Prajapati

Lucknow: Special POSCO Judge Om Prakash Mishra, who on Tuesday granted bail to rape accused Samajwadi Party leader Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, was suspended on Friday.

The Allahabad High Court also has ordered a departmental inquiry against the judge which would be conducted by Justice Sudhir Agarwal.

It may be mentioned that the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court had on Friday stayed the bail given to former Uttar Pradesh Minister Gayatri Prajapati in a rape case by a local court.

Not only Prajapati but his two associates also were given bail on condition of furnishing two sureties of Rs one lakh each and a personal bond of same amount.

Prajapati, who was arrested on March 15, was released from the district jail in Lucknow earlier on Wednesday.
