Ballia: In the game of one upmanship U P chief minister Akhilesh Yadav would not like to face a defeat, specially when the state assembly elections are approaching . In a political repartee , he told a meeting in Ballia on Monday that his government’s pension scheme was much better than the Ujjwala project launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi here a day earlier.

The PM’s scheme will cover about five crore women in the country while his government’s project will benefit about 56 lakh women in U P alone, Yadav asserted. Significance is also being attached to his visit to Ballia the very next day of the PM’s arrival.

The chief minister, countering Modi also highlighted some other schemes started by his government. Special mention was made of the pro-poor schemes..He also talked about infrastructure projects---- linking of interior villages with towns. Several bridges have been constructed for the purpose, he said.

To add to the list of measures taken by his government for the benefit of the poor farmers, he said, the ceiling has been raised and in view of that kisans would get higher amount if they met an accident.
