France truck attack: At least 85 dead and over 100 injured
Paris: At least 85 people were killed and more than 100 others were injured on Thursday night after a truck ploughed through a crowd indulged in Bastille Day celebration in Nice of France, officials said.
According to the reports, the driver pointed his tractor-trailer towards the celebratory crowd and accelerated, crushing bodies under it.
The driver was shot dead by the security forces and later, firearms, explosives and grenades were recovered from the truck.
“The attack was carried out by a truck occupant who hit the crowd and drove through two kilometres along the Boulevard des Anglais pavement, the main street of Nice,” said regional President Christian Estrosi.
