Lucknow: Several flights to and fro were affected following a fire which broke out at the airstrip of Chaudhary Charan Singh airport of Lucknow, on Saturday

“Prima facie, it seems that fire broke out in the grass beside the runway strip from the crackers used to keep away the birds from runway,” said Lucknow airport director Suresh Chandra Hota. It took about two hours to normalize the things, he added.

  • The fire at airstrip was reported at around 1345 hours.
  • Around eight flights of Jet Airways, Indigo airlines and Fly Dubai were affected due to this.
  • Fire tenders doused the flame by 1515 hours and services were resumed.
  • The Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF), in charge of airport security and Lucknow district police reached the spot.
