Lucknow: Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramadan, will be celebrated in Lucknow on Monday as the moon was sighted all over India on Sunday.

"Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow as the Eid moon was sighted in Lucknow," prominent Muslim cleric Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali told newstrack.com, wishing every section of the society.

Following the announcement, people hit the streets for last minute shopping of groceries, new clothes, footwear and other items for celebrating Eid.

People were seen buying milk, vermicelli and dry fruits for "sheer khorma", a sweet dish made in almost every house.

Hectic activity was seen in markets around Chowk, Aminabad and other Muslim-majority areas of Lucknow. Namaz prayers will be offered at 10:00 am in Aishbagh's Eidgah. Shia community will offer namaz at Aasifi Masjid.
