Lakhimpur Kheri: First guards of Dudhwa National Park surrendered their arms then sweepers surrendered their brooms and now mahouts are going to ‘deposit’ their elephants.The Uttar Pradesh government allows imroglio between forest officials and District Magistrate Kinjal Singh to continue even at the cost of wildlife tourism.

The dispute is taking new propositions everyday day as the forest employees are intensifying their protest against the DM. The development on Thursday that the mahouts and the guides intend to return the elephants, used for tourists, to the department in Lucknow.

Will continue the protest:

Ram Kumar, a member of the Federation of Forest Association said that workers will continue their protest and they will deposit all the 13 elephants to their department in Lucknow.

The workers will now stage their protest in Lucknow, he added.

Heavy loss to the revenue department:

  • The revenue department could collect Rs 8.5 lakhs from the park in last month.
  • Heavy loss is being incurred due to the strike of forest workers.
  • Tourists are returning back.
