Greater Noida: Tensions have been simmering in Bisahda village in Dadri after police on Tuesday said that it has not yet found any credible evidence of cow slaughter by Mohammad Akhlaq's family.

Police also denied the rumours that the investigating team is nearing towards a closure report in the case.

What the Dadri Circle Officer said?

  • Anurag Singh said that police has no evidence of cow slaughter and hence it cannot arrest Akhlaq's brother Jaan Mohammad.
  • Investigation is underway and arrest will be made soon after police gets a 'credible evidence' against him.

Mohammad Akhlaq was lynched to death on September 28 last on suspicion of consuming beef. 18 accused were arrested in the case including two minors who were later granted bail.

BJP accuses police of ignoring facts:

  • BJP leader Sanjay Rana, who is also father of one of the accused, said that police is in a hurry to file its closure report in the case.
  • Police is working to please the state government that is inclined towards a particular community, ignoring the facts.
