Kashmir valley put under curfew in a bid to eradicate violence

Srinagar: As a precautionary measure to maintain the law and order situation and eradicate violence in the valley, a curfew will be imposed across Kashmir on Friday, said authorities.

“The District Magistrates (DMs) have issued the curfew orders in their respective regions on Thursday and the orders will be effective from the next morning,” said an official spokesperson.

Other highlights:

  • No vehicles will be allowed on public roads except ambulances.
  • The internet services are already suspended in the valley since almost a week now.
  • The state was gripped by violence after security forces killed Hizbul Mujahideen’s poster boy Burhan Muzaffar Wani in an encounter.
