Mathura: Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi, is embroiled in controversies after party’s general secretary in Uttar Pradesh, Umesh Pandit, prepared some posters with ‘Pandit’ title written before the former’s name.

Gandhi is on a campaign in UP, Kisan Yatra, in view of upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and posters featuring him and other congress leaders are pasted in every street of state. Some posters are printed with a title of ‘Pandit’ before the name of Rahul Gandhi.

The Gandhi and congress critics have accused him of playing caste card in the state to attract upper section of the society before the 2017 elections.

According to sources, the party is being criticised for presenting dual-faced image. The Congress has introduced Shiela Dixit as its Chief Ministerial face in Uttar Pradesh which created rumours about the party playing ‘Bramhin card’ to allure the upper castes.

Some political analysts said that state leaders of Congress have always succeeded whenever it has played on Bramhin face in the state. The party has given the state a Pandit CM, Narayan Dutt Tiwari, earlier and wants to repeat its success again by projecting Shiela as the new CM candidate. The state leaders have intentionally printed the caste of leader Rahul Gandhi on the banners and posters to attract the attention of the upper caste voters of Uttar Pradesh, stated the analysts.
