Kanpur: It is only few days ago when Uttar Pradesh came out with a sensitive policy about animals but Shailendra Gupta had a harrowing experience while saving life of a hawk which was found contused, lying on a road at Kidwai Nagar (K-block) in Kanpur being mauled by street dogs.

He had to run from pillar to post to get the Hawk treated until he took it to a private hospital after facing apathy of the government veterinary doctors at several places.

Shailendra Gupta had spotted the wounded bird while he was driving with his friend and to face stark realities about the system. Hawk is revived and convalescing but the whole matter has put a question mark on the attitude of wild life authorities.

A dejected Gupta is going to lodge a complaint with the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav about this.
