Chorus for change in Congress leadership grows with time
New Delhi: The chorus for change in Congress leadership has been joined by some new leaders following adverses in recent assembly elections . The latest to come on board is Punjab party leader Captain Amrinder Singh who was party’s chief ministerial face .
In a chat with a news channel on Monday he said,” Sonia Gandhi ( party chief) is 70-year old ,she should vacate the post for her son Rahul Gandhi. Daughter Priyanka should be also brought in. It’s time the leadership was changed”. Questions are being raised about the leadership in the party in the wake of reverses in recent elections in four states.
Rahul will change and act more confidentially if elevated to the president’s position of the party. Priyanka will enthuse the youth. Together they will create wornders. He also advocated for decentralization of power and giving more powers to regional leaders. “ Unless we work in close cooperation with them the situation will not improve in the country”, he added.
Senior party leader Digvijay Singh was the first to demand handing over of the baton to the youth.” The time has come for surgery in the party”, he had stated.
