China is not opposed to India’s NSG bid, assures Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday clarified that China is not opposed to India’s entry into the Nuclear Supplier Group (NSG).

“China is not opposed to India’s bid to NSG membership and the Beijing is only focussed on criteria procedure to our membership to the elite nuclear club,” said Swaraj at a press conference to outline the foreign policy of Narendra Modi government during the last two years.

Her comments came hours after MEA spokesperson Vikas Swaroop disclosed that External Affairs Secretary S Jaishankar visited Beijing to discuss India's NSG bid.

On Pakistan:

“As far as our stand on Pakistan's NSG membership is concerned, India is not opposed to the entry of any nation into the NSG," said Swaraj.
