CBI quizzes IPS Manzil Saini in Shravan Sahu murder case

Meerut: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday interrogated former Lucknow Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manzil Saini, fondly known as Lady Singham, in connection with Uttar Pradesh capital's much touted Shravan Sahu murder case.

Saini, who is currently posted as SSP Meerut, was drilled by CBI for more than two hours, after the High Court orders.

The CBI officials asked her why had the police not given gunner to the Lucknow-based businessman despite repeated requests. They also questioned her why was Sahu framed in a fake police case.

Manzil Saini, however, blamed the then RI Line Shishu Pal Singh, saying, "I had verbally ordered him to allot a gunner to Shravan Sahu. But he did not abide by my orders."

Incidentally, Shishu Pal Singh, during the interrogation process, said Saini had not given any such orders.

It is being said that CBI now can question Shishu Pal Singh and Manzil Saini together.

It is worth mentioning that Shravan Sahu was murdered by unidentified men on February 1 and it was alleged that some police personnel were also involved in the conspiracy.

CBI had earlier questioned the then RI Line Shishu Pal Singh who did not provide gunner to Sahu despite repeated requests.

Saini had suspended Shishu Pal Singh but he was reinstated just three days later as the suspension order was never made on paper.

The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court took the mysterious killing of Sahu into cognizance and had asked the CBI to investigate the role of police.
