Mother's day: Butterfly Dadi flies high with her determination
Allahabad: “The key of persistence will open up any door that has been closed by resistance.” The quote by the high-end business consultant John Di Lemme was proved right by a 70-year-old lady, who was still struggling to earn her livelihood, being thrown out of the house by her husband.
In a phase of life when someone needs their better-half the most, Beena Upreti was estranged by her husband, Umesh Chandra Upreti, who is a retired scientist of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
Subsequently, the elderly lady decided to write her own destiny and soon, she managed to buy an e-rickshaw, gathering funds by teaching kids all round the clock.
Now, the lady can be witnessed giving rides to passengers in her special ‘butterfly-shaped’ e-rickshaw and earning her daily bread out of it.
Highlights:
- Beena expected help from her three children, who live abroad, but they also turned their backs on her.
- She is a Master of Arts (MA) and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from Allahabad University.
- She has been nicknamed as ‘Butterfly Dadi’ (granny) by the passengers.
- Apart from riding e-rickshaw, the old woman also imparts free education to kids.
