Washington: Two powerful members of United States House of Representatives would like Pakistan to be declared a terrorist state. A bill to this effect has been already moved in the House. If passed it will be fulfilment of a long wish of India which has suffered enormously, because of the neighbour’s unholy behaviour ,in terms of men and materials.

"It is time we designated it for what it is: a state sponsor of terrorism," said Ted Poe , a republican. Ted, a Congressman, is the chairman of Subcommittee on Terrorism of the House.

What is more significant. A democrat, Dana Rohrabacher, has joined hands with him. The bill has been introduced by both the members. They believe that not only has Pakistan been an unreliable ally but also aided and abetted enemies of the US.

There is enough evidence against Pakistan of supporting terrorism. It has provided shelter to Osama bin Laden and been backing another terrorist outfit the Haqqani network.

The representatives expect the President to issue a report within 90 days of passage of the bill, pointing out whether or not Pak has supported international terrorism.

Thirty days after that the Secretary of State has to issue a follow-up action report.

Meanwhile, another Congressman Pete Olson , in a statement, said he would support every effort to bring perpetrators of the Uri terrorist attack to justice."I strongly condemn this terrorist attack on an Indian army base in Kashmir” he said , adding that” India is a strong partner and ally in peace,".

In another statement, a BJP-friendly organisation in the US ,BJP (OFBJP)USA said "Pakistan has been pursuing for almost 30 years the state sponsored terrorism . It has become a cradle of global terrorism”. “India must teach a lesson to it”.
