Patna: The Bihar governmnet on Tuesday announced a financial assistance of Rs. 25 lakhs each to the kin of 10 CRPF personnels, who were killed in an ambush with the naxals in Bihar.

"The state government will provide a compensation of Rs 25 lakh each to 10 CRPF personnel killed in IED blasts by Maoists," an official of Chief Minister's Office said.

The state government will also give the best medical treatment to the injured CRPF men.

The CRPF jawans belonged to its elite 205th COBRA battalion and were posted here for anti-naxal operations.

The encounter between the security forces and naxals started on Monday afternoon. CRPF jawans have gunned down three naxals by lateMonday night, as per reports.

About the incident:

  • The blast was reported from Chakarbanda-Dumarinala forests, bordering Gaya
  • Eight CRPF jawans were killed on the spot, while two succumbed to injuries during the evacuation efforts
  • Commandoes have recovered AK-47 rifle, INSAS rifle and under barrel grenade launcher from the naxals base
  • Director General (DG), CRPF Durga Prasad will visit the incident spot to look after of the condition
