Lucknow: Uanble to take further embarrassment, the Uttar Pradesh government is likely to shift Bulandshahr DM B Chandrakala and Lakhimpur Kheri DM Kinjal Singh -- two of its lady district magistrates (DMs) who are facing strong public resentment for their erratic way of functioning. Both the officers belong to the 2008 batch.

The chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is not all happy with the state of affairs in both the districts where the locals have been agitating against them - rather unprecedented for DMs, highly placed sources told 'newztrack.com' on Friday.

Bulandshahr DM Chandrakala was in the news for getting two truckloads of garbage dumped outside the office of a vernacular daily after it caried the news of her outburst against an incident in which a youth had clicked a selfie with her. She also lodged a case against a local journalist for carrying the news. She , in fact, locked horns with a leading Hindi newspaper and antagonised the journalist fraternity. On Thursday, even Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) staged a protest against her in Bulandshahr causing discomfiture to the state government.

The situation is far more serious in Lakhimpur Kheri where Dudhwa National Park, a wildlife spot of international fame, is on the verge of closure due to agitation of forest employees against the DM for organising midnight parties in the restricted area of the Park in flagrant violation of forest rules. Infuriated by the frequent violation of forest rules and her high-handed behaviour forced the forest employees to go on strike.

The forest guards first surrendered their arms and then the guides and mahouts returned the elephants meant for the tourists to the department, virtually stopping the activities of Dudhwa National Park.

Incidentally, both the DMs are considered to be close to senior ruling party leaders and had been enjoying confidence of the chief minister as well. Now with the situation going out of hands the state government has decided to remove them.
